Tuff Harris signs with
the Miami Dolphins - "It's kind of out
of the blue," said Harris. "They weren't on
me as much as other teams. But regardless,
it's the shot I was waiting for."

Harris is an American football cornerback
who currently plays for the Miami Dolphins
of the National Football League. He was
originally signed by the Dolphins as an
un-drafted free agent on April 29th of 2007.
He played collegiately at Montana, where he
was a four-year starter and a two-time
All-Big Sky Conference player. Harris is a
2002 graduate of Colstrip (MT) High School,
and is an enrolled member of the Crow Tribe
of Indians. Also, he has Northern Cheyenne
tribal ancestry.
Tuff Harris’s parents are Jerry and Melody
Caton Harris, currently of Colstrip, MT. He
grew up in St. Xavier, MT. His parents moved
to Hardin, where he attended Hardin Primary
School. Then his parents moved to Lodge
Grass, MT, where Harris continued his
education. During his time in Lodge Grass,
MT, Harris played football and basketball,
and ran track for the Lodge Grass Indians.
His mother was an assistant coach for the
track and field team. Harris’s family moved
to Colstrip after his sophomore year. After
moving from Lodge Grass to Colstrip, Harris
continued playing football and track.
After graduating in 2002, Harris went to
school at the University of Montana.
Harris’s sibling and cousins are well
educated, being the first generation of
their family to attend college. His brother
is a lawyer. Harris’s cousins careers very
greatly, one is in the Military, another is
an engineer, and another has degrees in
anthropology and biology.
“My dream
was to play Division l basketball
and I was able to do that,” says
University of Montana senior Mike
Chavez. “If you're willing to work
hard, anything is possible.”

Mike Chavez recently sat
in the University of Montana's student
center and greeted a Grizzly basketball
player who passed by. After the two said
hello, Chavez described him as a former
teammate. In that brief moment, it was
clear, Chavez was moving on.
Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and
Field Championships results - Freshman Brian
Vallie grabbed silver (2nd) in the 800m,
recording a season-best time of 1:50.78 –
just 0.12 seconds behind Air Force’s Kevin

secured seven all conference performances
for the LOBOS. Freshman Brian Vallie grabbed
silver (2nd) in the 800m, recording a
season-best time of 1:50.78 – just 0.12
seconds behind Air Force’s Kevin Hawkins
(senior). This is only the second time in
the history of the Air Force that one of
their runners placed in the 800m at the
Mountain West Conference Championships. The
all Mountain West Conference team is
comprised of the top 3-finishers in each
event at the MWC Championship meet. Brian
Vallie has made the Mountain West Conference
All Conference Team. Brian Vallie’s time was
off by 2 tenths of a second to make the
qualifying time to advance to the NCAA
Division–I Regional Meet, as well as the 1st
place winner Kevin Hawkins.
Brian has had an exceptional year in Cross
Country, Indoor Track All Conference Team
Member, Outdoor Track All Conference Team
Member! All this and this is only his first
year in college! Just think of how he will
do in the next 3 years of college! Brian
will be home next week and return mid summer
to train in Albuquerque . Thank you for all
your encouragement and prayers through this
school year. Can’t wait until next school
year, its going to be another awesome cross
country and track season for Brian! He also
has his freshmen year behind him and will be
a sophomore next school year.
